Everything was made easy to understand and the therapist was very helpful. IRS was recommended by my doctor and I would definitely recommend to others.
My therapist was a God send, I really believe that I would not be here today if it wasn’t for her. My wife and I were out of work when I was told I would need a BIPAP machine and the price. We called my therapist and told her we would give back the loaner machine because we had No Money to buy a new machine. She went right to work and helped us get government support in purchasing a machine it took weeks and weeks and when I thought we were beat, my therapist never stopped.
I owe her not just my gratitude but my LIFE!!!!! She never once treated us different because we didn’t have the money in fact it was the total opposite. You have some great people working for the company and you have figured out how to market COMPASSION. Thank you for everything you did for me I owe you all my life and hopefully I’ll be able to repay you for your efforts. And if you don’t acknowledge my therapist and give her a BIG RAISE, you are missing out in securing one of your most important and valuable assets.
The therapist at IRS Abbotsford could not have been more helpful. We had a critical deadline to meet for the air transport of a very frail old gentleman in need of oxygen support therapy for air transport at altitude. They had the equipment ready and waiting, complete with the extra battery packs required, even though we had to move the air transport date up a week, the equipment performed flawlessly, setup required only 3 button pushes. The patient had a safe and comfortable journey, even though the trip was from coast to coast.
I cannot thank the staff at IRS Abbotsford enough for helping to make the logistics of this project manageable.
I recently had been diagnosed as having severe sleep apnea. I was then directed to Independent Respiratory Services in Vernon B.C. The experience I had for the testing and trial of the machine were amazing. The staff guided me through each aspect of the different masks I was allowed to try different masks until I found one that worked for me. The CPAP machine had to be adjusted several times till we got it just right. The staff is there for you on the phone guiding you on how to adjust your machine and also in person, they call you through your trial period once a week.
My experience with them was a life changer. I had been tired for a long time, I took vitamins and iron supplements thinking that would help, I got up several times a night and now with the help I have received I now sleep through the night and wake up refreshed and full of energy. No more begin cranky and tired. The quality of my life has improved so much and I cannot say enough good things about my experience.
So do not give up keep going with it till you get it right and you too can have a life changing experience. A very happy customer!
I have known that I had a snoring problem since I was a child. As soon as I got married, my wife told me I had to do something about the snoring because it was going to drive her crazy. That was 21 years ago! She is not crazy, but is sleep deprived; or should I say ‘was’ sleep deprived! The very first night I used the machine, my wife was thrilled to say she didn’t hear me snore once!! First time in over 40 years I didn’t snore and wake my family! I always put off getting tested for sleep apnea because I thought it was going to be a big hassle because I live in a small isolated community.
Thinking I would have to miss work and leave town to sleep in some clinic hooked up to machines kept me from doing what I obviously needed. Wow was I wrong. Not only did I not have to leave my home, the Fort St. John office is so well prepared to assist people who live in the region but who are still too far away for the office to be convenient, that the entire process was not only easy, but actually enjoyable. The testing was simple; everything I needed to do the testing was sent up on Greyhound with easy-to-use return, prepaid waybills. In 3 days I had my test done, and equipment for trial use for the month. Fast and easy. The staff were very professional and friendly and any questions I had were just an email away. Even though I wasn’t available for phone calls, the Fort St. John office still contacted me weekly and left a message describing what they were going to do to adapt my treatment (all remotely via modem!).
Once the trial was done, again it was less than a week and I had my new machine, they even let me try each different mask prior to purchasing. I didn’t even have to deal with my Extended Health provider, I provided IRS my info and they did the rest! The customer service was over and above what I expected and the relative ease of getting to the end result was a very pleasant surprise. I can’t say enough about the ‘well oiled machine’ that is the IRS Fort St. John office!! I look forward to a continued relationship with this office as my treatment needs continue.
I can’t thank the entire staff at the Fort St. John IRS office enough!!!
I was very unhappy to be diagnosed with sleep apnea and very reluctant to accept the seriousness of the situation. I was upset at having to wear a mask so when the respiratory therapist showed me the nasal pillow it meant a lot to have that option. The respiratory therapists were patient and understanding. They spent time explaining what I needed to know, helping me to feel comfortable, and always willing to answer my many questions. The therapist showed me the original test results and my numbers were high. He said that our goal was to get my numbers down to 5 and after just one week of using the cpap, my number plummeted to 1.1 That was very good news!
Prior to being diagnosed with sleep apnea I was always exhausted, achy, had trouble remembering and focusing, and felt generally ill. I began to feel better quickly and even though it took some time getting used to this treatment, I am very happy to have energy again, and to be feeling well again. My rheumatologist explained that my body will continue to heal and I will become healthier with time.
Thank you to the therapist and the other staff. I appreciate all that you have done and also your continuing support. Knowing that you are there if I need assistance in the future is reassuring. As I work full time and had to take time off for my appointments, I appreciated being seen promptly as scheduled.
My experience with your staff at your Victoria, Bay Street location has been just short of a miracle and is ongoing. The therapists there are the ultimate professional employees that you can be proud of. They left no stone unturned to ensure I had the correct equipment for my several conditions and as a result am a very satisfied customer, sleeping and breathing comfortable. I highly recommend IRS, their equipment and Service to anyone that is looking for help.
I was diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea a few years but was hesitant to take the first step in trying out a CPAP machine. When my husband became increasingly alarmed about the gasping noises and the fact that I would temporarily stop breathing I decided to take the plunge. My doctor referred me to the IRS Clinic in Victoria where I met the therapists and thus began a recovery program.
My therapist was so patient and understanding and willing to help me overcome my aversion to the masks that it was not long before she found the perfect one for me. Both the therapists were very encouraging and helpful and understanding so that the visits to the clinic were very pleasant – not to mention extremely helpful.
There are adjustments to be made when starting to use a CPAP and the numerous phone calls I made were always handled in a very pleasant way. They are both so busy with so many clients but they never rushed me.
Now that I am used to my mask and equipment I am sleeping much better and feeling less tired. I also know that I can always call them if I need advice. Bravo to these two terrific women!
After being diagnosed with complex sleep apnea at the UBC Sleep Disorders Clinic, I was referred to IRS to obtain a CPAP machine. The staff at IRS were all extremely friendly, helpful and professional.
I was amazed at how much better I felt after only a few nights using the CPAP machine! I am afraid I was not an easy patient as I had significant difficulty in obtaining the right mask and in ascertaining a pressure where I could use a standard CPAP machine rather that going to a BIPAP.
My therapist at IRS, was extremely patient and knowledgeable and worked with myself and the UBC clinic to get me into the right machine, using the right pressure with the right mask. In the end I wound up with a full face mask and CPAP at 17.0 pressure. These are both working extremely well for me.
IRS looked after all the paperwork with my Extended Healthcare Provider and have been great with follow-up advice and service.
I was very lucky to find IRS as my first stop when looking for a CPAP machine. I am extremely happy with the services they provide and I have no hesitation in referring my friends to IRS.
Hi, the IRS staff was great from the receptionist to the therapist, everyone. The Service was always great.
The CPAP has made me more rested and keeps me from other medical problems. My doctor, endo and eye doctor think it is great that I did it.
Listen, try and relax you will get use to it. I am a very light sleeper and I hate anything on my face but that fear and discomfort soon passed.
Thanks to the IRS staff.
I was diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea when I was 8 months pregnant. I was very reluctant to trial CPAP but I had heard it could transform the lives of people with OSA so I gave it a go.
The first few nights that I used it were great; I slept for long periods and loved being able to comfortably breathe through my nose for the first time since I could remember. I woke in the mornings feeling refreshed and full of energy instead of groggy and lethargic.
After the initial success and as my pregnancy progressed I started to find it harder to tolerate the CPAP. I would lay awake feeling as if I was concentrating too hard on my breathing or I would find it hard to get into a position that was comfortable with the mask. I gave up using the CPAP completely in the days leading up to the birth of my daughter and for the few days afterwards. It wasn’t until we came home from the hospital that I realized just how great CPAP was. My sleep apnea was worse than ever because I was so exhausted. I managed to get 3 – 4 hour stints of “CPAP sleep” whilst my husband looked after our daughter and it made the world of difference to me. It gave me the quality of sleep that I needed to have enough energy to keep up with a young baby.
It’s been five months since I started using CPAP and I still battle with image issues and wish that I could sleep normally without looking like an elephant! The nights of battling with the machine are now far outnumbered by the nights of good, comfortable sleep. I just have to keep reminding myself that I feel so much better when I sleep with the CPAP. The most important thing of all, especially now I have a daughter, is that I know it’s hugely beneficial to my long term health which acts as a powerful motivator for me.
Being on a 7 week CPAP trial period was a trial at times, but the therapist made it bearable and even pleasant. The therapist provided impressive client service and support. After several changes with the mask, until one suited me best, the CPAP trial was better but not necessarily easier – it is a mask & machine of course! The therapist was also very accommodating with my appointment times, providing alternative hours and places, which was an absolute destressor.
Since this trial was to figure out a possible solution to my sleeping difficulties, I was determined to stay on track – it was my health no less, and I kept on track. The therapist never made it feel like a business but rather she honestly wished for me an improvement in my sleep and health, so I never ever felt pressured to purchase the CPAP after the trial was over.
Nonetheless, I did end up purchasing a CPAP machine and mask, but not for my sleeping difficulties, but for other health improvements and benefits I received from being on it – go figure! Hope you let the trial work out for you – it is your health no less!
